India's first major religion, Hinduism, originated in the 2nd millennium B.C.E when a group called Aryans migrated to northern India and wrote about but some historians credit the Aryans for bringing Hinduism to India. An early Hindu religion is called Vedism, after the Vedas, and the Vedas is a collection of scared texts, including verses, hymns, prayers, and teachings composed in Sanskrit. Sanskrit is an ancient language of India. The Vedas were taught personally for hundreds of years before India had a written form of Sanskrit. The caste system was a system that divided India into 4 classes, which are Brahmins ( priests and religious scholars), Kshatriyas ( rulers and warriors), Vaishyas ( herders and merchants), Shudras ( servants). The caste system eventually was kind of the government that everybody had a specific job and it's like that in the modern U.S. , in life, people have jobs and at their jobs, they are assigned to do something specific, just like in ancient India with the caste system.
